Director of Finance and Human Resources

Start date: July 1, 2023
The Director of Finance and Human Resources shall provide leadership in finance and human resources and is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the business affairs of the school district. This individual works closely with the Superintendent of Schools and will provide assistance to the Superintendent to ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the applicable laws of the state of Maine, existing policies of the RSU5 Board of Directors, and generally accepted accounting procedures. This individual is responsible for the management of the Business Office which provides budgeting, accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and human resource functions for the school district.

--- Responsible for the development and management of a $37M budget
--- Supervises the management of the financial affairs of the school district
--- Supervises all financial and human resources personnel and overseas the day-to-day operations of the business office
--- Oversees invoicing and management of grants
--- Remains current on all finance and human resources laws
--- Prepares monthly financial reports and others as required
--- Promotes an employee orientated, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality productivity and standards, goal attainment and ongoing development of a superior department
--- Arranges for the internal audit of school accounts

Requirements:
--- Degree in Business/Finance management and /or Accounting or the proven experience with major emphasis in school finance and business administration field
--- Demonstrated leadership skills as evidenced by a record of progressively responsible professional achievement
--- Ability to balance multiple priorities
--- Collaborative team player
--- Must hold or be able to obtain CHRC certification
