Senior Software Engineer, Video Delivery, CDN Orchestration
We are seeking an expert Python developer to work within the Video Delivery and Experience squad, specializing in multi-CDN configuration, orchestration, traffic steering, and observability. The ideal candidate will have a strong proficiency in modern Python concepts, experience with distributed systems and async processing, familiarity with cloud environments, and a collaborative problem-solving approach. Exposure to CDN or streaming video is a plus. The work involves developing next-generation multi-CDN orchestration products to support live events and large VOD brands like Paramount+ and CBS.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality, modular Python code.
  
• Design and implement APIs for data integration across remote systems, handling failures gracefully.
  
• Review pull requests, ensuring code quality, testing, typing, and documentation.
  
• Contribute to building observable systems with logging, monitoring, and alerting.
  
  Required Technical Skills
  
  
• Expertise in maintainable, modern Python coding.
  
• Strong understanding of async Python patterns, asyncio, threading, multiprocessing; familiarity with Celery.
  
• Knowledge of Python annotations, type hints, modules.
  
• Experience with unit testing using pytest.
  
• Understanding of locking, mutability, scoping.
  
• Proficiency in SQL.
  
• Basic networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, subnets, OSI layers.
  
  Tooling & Ecosystem
  
  
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  
• Familiarity with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, OCI).
  
• Experience building REST APIs, using FastAPI and Celery.
  
  Additional Qualifications
  
  
• Knowledge of Go or Rust.
  
• Understanding of CDN/MultiCDN architectures and ABR streaming.
  
• Experience with observable systems, log aggregation, metrics, ETL.
  
• API orchestration in multiCDN environments.
  
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
  
• Experience designing fault-tolerant distributed systems.
  
  Paramount+ offers a diverse streaming service with live sports, news, and entertainment content. The position offers a salary range of $124,000 - $170,000, with benefits including health coverage, 401(k), life insurance, disability benefits, tuition assistance, PTO, and bonus eligibility.
