Posting Summary Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban
public research university and anchor institution, located in
Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Unit Computing
Manager Supervisor (Manager of Arts, Media, and Immersive
Technologies). Reporting to the Assistant Director of Information
Technology, this Unit Computing Manager Supervisor plays a key role
in advancing SASN’s technology strategy by supporting and/or
leading functions or initiatives that support instruction, improve
user experience, strengthen and enhance digital infrastructure, and
foster innovation in teaching, learning, research, and creative
production both in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media and in
initiatives across SASN , including the support and integration of
specialized, discipline-specific software and applications used in
media production, digital design, immersive technologies, and in
other creative and instructional environments. This position is
responsible for and not limited to the following: Providing support
and/or oversight for technology, media systems, software, and
peripheral equipment in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media,
as well as relevant initiatives across the School of Arts and
Sciences-Newark ( SASN ), including, but not limited to HIIVE and
immersive technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), augmented
reality (AR), mixed reality (MR). Piloting, managing, overseeing,
and/or supporting initiatives, projects, and programs that
integrate media, VR, AR, MR, and other immersive technologies into
teaching and research, managing HIIVE , and supporting faculty and
students on the fundamentals of virtual reality via training,
consultation, hands-on support, workshops, and instructional
materials. Managing and supporting specialized software, hardware,
and equipment, providing technical assistance. Overseeing and/or
ordering, installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting
computer hardware, peripherals, and specialized software. Providing
training and guidance to faculty, students, and staff on the use of
technology, software, equipment, and security. Developing training
and support materials in various formats to assist faculty,
students, and staff in effectively utilizing technology and
peripherals in support of teaching and learning, and providing
hands-on support. Managing, coordinating, and/or supporting
technology initiatives that enhance and advance academic, research,
and/or administrative efforts within SASN . Providing systems
administration for the technical environment, including, but not
limited to, digital asset management, archival storage systems, web
servers, file servers, print service, and backup systems. Managing
web and digital media platforms for the Department of Arts, Culture
and Media, HIIVE , and other initiatives. Overview The School of

especially New York City. Preferred Qualifications Experience with
immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented
reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), 3D visualization, and related
instructional applications. Proficiency in systems administration,
including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of
servers, networked devices, storage systems, and backup solutions.
Understanding of virtualization, cloud computing, and endpoint
management technologies. Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices,
including identity management, data protection, and secure
configuration standards.
