Job Description Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Executive Director of Hearing and Speech, the Audiologist will provide comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative audiological services to clients in the community. The Audiologist serves as a member of the audiology team at the Lexington Hearing & Speech Center. PRIMARY DUTIES: Provide audiological services for Lexington Hearing and Speech center clients, to include audiometric testing, and audiological management Perform independent evaluation, interpretation and diagnosis of auditory system function Develops individualized recommendations, treatment plans, and provides patient/family counseling and education Conducts hearing aid evaluations, makes recommendations regarding appropriate amplification, keeps accurate records and completes necessary documentation Maintains contact with manufacturers of audiological/amplification equipment to ensure knowledge of current practices and products Networks with staff, consultants, and outside agencies on related issues Collaborates with school management, faculty, and staff on communication skills issues Demonstrates professional behavior during interactions Proficient in asking appropriate questions and follow-up questions Support the organization’s Strategic Planning initiatives with an emphasis on culture. Demonstrate a commitment to our vision, purpose, and mission Performs other related duties as assigned REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Possess considerable knowledge of audiology methods and techniques used in the diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders of hearing which may also involve speech, language, and other disorders. Must have operating knowledge of audiometric instruments. Ability and experience working independently, using critical thinking skills and processes to arrive at objective, strategic, results-oriented decisions within the context of patient care and department, division and organizational priorities Ability to work collaboratively with audiological team, faculty, and staff. Comfortable working with both children and adults. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills. Strong written and oral communication capabilities. Flexible work schedule may be required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Doctorate degree in Audiology Master’s Degree in audiology, if graduated prior to 2007 Must hold current NYS Audiology licensure NYS Hearing Aid Dispensing license Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech and Hearing Association or eligible to obtain Minimum 2 years clinical experience with experience in pediatric audiology strongly preferred. SECURITY CLEARANCE: Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, SCR, and SEL clearance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
